This is that rare story that winds up being so much better than the initial pitch. I thought it was the story of a wonderful Atlanta family that adopted a Chinese orphan who was a burn victim. That, in itself, is remarkable — that a family would take a chance on a child who looked far from perfect and who would need countless surgeries down the road. Great story. I was sold. But then I found out why the mother wanted to adopt Lucy, and that’s when the story went to a whole new level.
